The Rest Practice: Yoga Nidra + Reiki Class
NEW Weekly in Oak Park!Come to rest. Stay for the practice. Take what you need into the week ahead. The Rest Practice is a weekly, trauma-informed space to slow down, reconnect with your body, and experience intentional rest. Each session combines Yoga Nidra, a guided practice of deep rest and awareness, with Self-Reiki, offering gentle practices for grounding, nervous system regulation, and reconnection with yourself. Together, these practices create space to notice and move through stress and discomfort held in the body while cultivating a greater sense of steadiness, ease, and presence. No previous experience with yoga or Reiki is necessary. There is no physical yoga practice or expectation to perform—you are invited to simply come as you are and get comfortable. What to ExpectYou'll be guided into a comfortable resting position for Yoga Nidra, where you can allow the body to settle while following a gentle guided practice. You'll also be introduced to simple Self-Reiki techniques that can be used during class and incorporated into your everyday life. The practice is trauma-informed and invitational. You are always encouraged to listen to your body, make adjustments, keep your eyes open or closed, change positions, or opt out of any part of the practice. Each week offers an opportunity to pause, release some of what you've been carrying, and develop practices that can help you feel more grounded throughout the week. What to BringBring a yoga mat, blanket, pillow or bolster, and anything else that helps your body feel comfortable and supported while resting.Wear comfortable clothing and consider bringing an extra layer, as the body may cool down during Yoga Nidra.Weekly classes offered in Oak Park, Illinois.
Education, Training & Community Wellness
With a Master of Public Health, a background in mental health and trauma-informed care, and experience as a Reiki Master Teacher and yoga practitioner, I offer culturally responsive education and training at the intersection of mental health, holistic wellness, and community care.My offerings include mental health trainings and presentations, psychoeducation, trauma-informed wellness workshops, Reiki certification and mentorship, and experiential practices supporting nervous system regulation, resilience, and well-being. A central theme of my work is self-care as community care—recognizing that sustainable care for ourselves strengthens our capacity to care for, advocate for, and remain connected to our communities.Trainings can be tailored for community organizations, helping professionals, educators, students, and wellness spaces, with topics including mental health awareness, trauma and resilience, burnout prevention, nervous system regulation, sustainable self-care, and holistic approaches to well-being.Rooted in cultural responsiveness, accessibility, and healing justice, my goal is to provide practical tools and meaningful learning experiences that support individual and collective wellness—both within professional spaces and throughout the communities we serve.
